NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. is expected to report robust first-quarter earnings on Friday, buoyed by a strong performance in trading and mortgage banking.
Kicking off earnings season for the banking sector, J.P. Morgan is scheduled to release results at 7 a.m. Eastern time on Friday. It will be followed by Wells Fargo & Co. WFC +1.19% , which is due to report at 8 a.m. Eastern.
“We expect J.P. Morgan to set a high bar for the industry this quarter by reporting strong results driven by improved trading, strong mortgage banking, and continued loan growth in its commercial book,” said analysts at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods in a research report.
