Kan IEX niet een apart RBS forum aanmaken.. lijkt me wel de moeite.... opentv hebben ze ook ooit gedaan.. Er zijn andere fondsen die minders posts krijgen als RBS binnen het Fortis forum..

    volkomen me eens.

0,35 weer in zicht.
Annie.

Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc In Talks With HSBC Holdings plc, Standard Chartered PLC And Australia and New Zealand Banking Group On Asia Assets-Reuters
    Wednesday, 15 Apr 2009 10:09am EDT
Reuters reported that Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc is in talks with three banks interested in buying its Asian retail and commercial banking assets, a person familiar with the matter said. The three banks are HSBC Holdings plc, Standard Chartered PLC and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. The assets include operations in India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Taiwan. Separate bids will be made for its Pakistan business.

JS Bank Limited Also Interested In Acquiring Royal Bank of Scotland's RBS Pakistan-DJ
    Wednesday, 15 Apr 2009 01:01am EDT
Dow Jones reported that JS Bank Limited has expressed an interest in buying Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) Pakistan operations, the Daily Times reported. The Company said it was interested in buying ABN Amro NV's entire stake in RBS Pakistan and had been invited to conduct due diligence.

HONG KONG -- Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC has shortlisted three bidders for its Asian retail- and commercial-banking assets in a sale expected to fetch up to $1.8 billion and help the winner bulk up across the region, according to people familiar with the situation.

The three shortlisted banks are HSBC Holdings PLC, Standard Chartered PLC and Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd., the people said. RBS and its adviser Morgan Stanley are keeping the sale flexible to allow the carving out of certain parts of the business if needed. Local bidders could find some businesses, such as the Pakistan operations, more attractive and offer a higher premium, according to the people.

The bidders will conduct due diligence on the assets in the coming weeks before submitting binding offers in May, according to one person. Analysts at Macquarie Group estimate the assets could be worth up to $1.8 billion. The timing and terms of the auction could evolve as bidders go through due diligence and RBS's financial condition changes.

A representative for RBS said the bank is "in active discussions with potential buyers" of its retail and commercial businesses in Asia Pacific, but declined to comment further.

RBS Chief Executive Stephen Hester is moving quickly with plans to dispose of noncore businesses. Mr. Hester aims to trim 20% from the bank's £2 trillion ($3 trillion) balance sheet to help turn the troubled lender around. A wide swath of the bank's global banking and markets division is expected to be sold in the medium term as RBS retrenches.

RBS expanded aggressively under former CEO Sir Fred Goodwin, and was hit hard when the wholesale funding markets seized up last year. The lender is now 70%-owned by the British government; RBS received a £20 billion bailout package last year and raised further capital from the government this month.

The assets, which are in China, India, Taiwan, Indonesia and elsewhere, are a portion of the Asian assets acquired by RBS when it led a consortium to buy part of ABN Amro Holding NV in 2007. RBS paid £10 billion for its part of ABN, which included the Asian businesses and wholesale-banking operations in Europe.

The nonretail assets up for sale mostly target small and medium-size enterprises, or SMEs, across Asia. The retail and SME network ranks among the top five in many Asian markets, but isn't the dominant franchise in any of them, according to a person involved in the process.

That makes the acquisition useful for bidders like Standard Chartered and HSBC, which compete fiercely in these markets. ANZ, whose CEO, Michael Smith, is a former senior HSBC executive, has aggressively expanded in Asia outside its home market in Australia through acquisitions.

RBS is planning to retain its investment-banking operations and corporate-banking business in Asia.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and UBS AG are advising Standard Chartered. Credit Suisse Group is advising ANZ.

UPDATE 1-Bankinter buys rest of Direct Line Spain from RBS

Spanish bank pays RBS 426 million euros for 50 pct

    * Bankinter exercises clause giving it right to buy stake

    * Spanish unit made 100 mln euro pretax profit last year

    (Adds detail, background)

MADRID, April 16 (Reuters) - Spanish bank Bankinter (BKT.MC) said on Thursday it would pay Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L) 426 million euros ($560.7 million) in cash for the half of the Spanish unit of Direct Line Insurance it does not already own.

Bankinter is buying the remaining 50 percent of Linea Directa Aseguradora SA (LDA) after exercising a clause giving either bank the right to buy the other's share should a third party took control of either of them.

That clause from the 1994 deal establishing Linea Directa came into effect in November when the British government bought took control of RBS after investors shunned a rescue plan needed to save the bank after massive write-offs.

Independent auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers set the price for the vehicle insurance specialist, whose advertisements show it as a little red telephone on wheels.

The Spanish insurer has 1.6 million policyholders and made a pretax profit of 100 million euros in 2008. ($1=.7598 Euro) (Reporting by Ben Harding; Editing by Erica Billingham)
