   The facts:
   FT reports about TA deal
   Our analysis:
   This morning (or late yesterday evening), the FT reported that TomTom had until the 17th of March to reply to statements of objections raised by the EU. These statements of objections apparantly focus on three areas: confidentiality, partial foreclosure and the efficiency argument brought forward by TomTom. The confidentiality part relates to the risk of commercially sensitive information from Mio Mitac and ViaMichelin reaching TomTom through Tele Atlas. The partial foreclosure issue relates to the EU's concern that customers would change from Tele Atlas to Navteq because of a lack of confidence about pricing and availability of maps, meaning that these customers will be 'forced' to become Navteq clients, which would then be able to raise prices because of lower competitive pressure. And the third argument relates to the efficiency argument, whereby Tomtom and Tele Atlas claim that only the combination of the two can optimise the data feedback by customers (MapShare). The EU apparantly doubts whether this is true.
   Having read these concerns, I belief that TomTom has already provided sufficient remedies for the first issue while there is sufficient evidence that the second issue is irrelevant. In its letter of December 2nd TomTom has stated that Tele Atlas will continue to operate as a separate entity, operating from different offices and with diffierent commercial departments. It has also stated that it will hire an information security manager's whose sole taks is to ensure that no commercially sensitive information flows from TA to TomTom. These measures qualify as quite substantial remedies because nornally, a merger would lead to more integration to generate cost savings. With regards to clients being 'forced' into the hands of Navteq, there is no evidence of such a development. None of the existing Tele Atlas clients have left or have even opted to go from single source to dual source. In fact, existing clients have extended their cooperation with Tele Atlas (Microsoft) while new clients (Sony PSP and Asus) have come on board, so apparantly these companies do not feel that the possibility of a TA/TOM2 combination will lead to higher prices (or slower declining map prices) or the possibility of differences in map quality. The third issue is more difficult. MapShare leads to proprietary data for TomTom that it is willing to share with Tele Atlas but probably only in the case that TomTom is allowed to acquire TA. If not, it is better off offering this service to its own client base, which will then set it apart from its competition.
   Conclusion & Action:
   Although the FT reports is very detailed and thus looks plausible, we think that the first two arguments can be easily countered by TomTom leaving only the third, and in our opinion less important, issue with regards to efficiency. We continue to assume that TomTom will receive approval with only modest remedies. We retain our BUY recommendation.

   't is zo lang gelden dat we omhoog zijn geweest, dat de iex t2 niet eens vermeld in de top 5, we staan er toch echt !! met 5.01%

   Ik vind dat de aex alleen nog wat achterblijft,jammer.Als die naar 3% loopt,gaat Tom Tom naar 26,50 of hoger.

   geduld = een schone zaak denk ik, en we moeten van ver komen,maar het is en blijft stijgen en dalen voorlopig met de beurs, zo ook met t2 ?
