    TomTom kiest voor marketeer van Philips

    Gary Raucher (38) is bij TomTom benoemd tot senior vicepresident marketing voor de consumentenmarkt.

    Hij is afkomstig van de consumentenlifestyle-divisie van Philips, waar hij onder andere de slogan ‘sense & simplicity’ bedacht.

    Met zijn activiteiten voor het elektronicaconcern won hij elf Lions-awards, de prijzen die worden uitgereikt tijdens het internationale reclamefestival in het Franse Cannes.

    ‘Het merk TomTom wordt vooral verbonden met draagbare navigatieapparatuur’, zegt de in New York geboren Raucher in een telefonische toelichting. ‘Maar wij leveren ook logistieke diensten en inbouwapparatuur. Bovendien zijn wij samen met Nike actief op de fitnessmarkt. Ik wil het publiek daar bewuster van maken.’

    Na zijn studie economie aan de Cornell universiteit begon Raucher zijn carrière bij Andersen Consulting, waar hij werkte met bedrijven in consumentengoederen en de farmaciesector. Later behaalde hij zijn MBA in Chicago en maakte hij de overstap naar Quaker Oats en Philips. Bij dat laatste bedrijf heeft hij ongeveer negen jaar gewerkt. ‘Het is nu tijd voor een volgende uitdaging’, aldus Raucher. In zijn nieuwe functie is Raucher verantwoordelijk voor het managen van het TomTommerk en alle consumentgerelateerde marketing- en communicatieactiviteiten wereldwijd.

    In zijn jeugd wilde Raucher advocaat worden. ‘In de VS hebben wij juryrechtspraak en het leek mij geweldig de argumenten van de jury te begrijpen en te beïnvloeden.

    Met marketing is dat eigenlijk hetzelfde verhaal, alleen gaat het dan niet om een jury maar om consumenten.’

    Niet alleen maar blauwe lucht.........bij de analisten. Voor wat het waard is. Met name die jongens die een strong sell geven zijn interessant.

    Of 16 analysts tracking TomTom stock, three have a 'strong buy' recommendation, seven rate the shares 'hold', while six have the stock at 'sell' or 'strong sell', according to StarMine. Garmin has four 'strong buy' or 'buy' recommendations, eight rate the stock 'hold' and one 'sell'.

    Je weet hoe het gaat.
    Eerst geeft analist sell of hold.
    Intussen lekker longpositie opbouwen.
    Daarna gaat koers stijgen.
    Om koers boven de top te tillen komt buy advies.
    Afscheid nemen van longposities.
    Het mooie van TomTom zijn de vele sell adviezen.
    Geeft op termijn flinke boost van koers TomTom.

    TomTom partners with DUEL to deliver real-time traffic information for city of Rome



    Amsterdam, 18 September 2012 – TomTom today announces a partnership with traffic management experts DUEL to provide location and traffic information in the Lazio region of Italy. TomTom will deliver a combination of maps, and both historical and real-time traffic information to support forecasting of traffic for the area. Drivers will benefit from a more comprehensive and accurate view of what is going to happen on the road networks, enabling them to choose the best possible route to their destination.

    "According to TomTom's Congestion Index *, Rome is among the most congested cities in Europe with a congestion level of 34%, meaning that on average travel times in the region are 34% longer than they would be under uncongested conditions," said Nuno Campos, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TomTom Licensing. "TomTom is excited to partner with DUEL to collaboratively develop more effective traffic management."

    "TomTom's highly granular and accurate traffic information is enhancing the sources already used by Italian local authorities," said Mr. Colasanti, DUEL's CEO. "We believe that the fusion of this data with existing sources will produce significant congestion reduction through the development of a powerful traffic forecasting tool."

    TomTom HD Flow delivers speed information for all roads so that traffic flow on the entire road network can be visualised and evaluated to assess true travel times for the entire network. When this real time information is combined with historical traffic data, TomTom is able to both pinpoint congestion and help identify alternative, faster routes. The traffic forecast data will be available for drivers via both a website and a mobile application managed by the ACI, the Italian Automobile Club, within the Luce Verde Regione Lazio service.





    * The methodology used in the Congestion Index compares travel times during non-congested periods (free flow) with travel times in peak hours. The difference is expressed as a percentage increase in travel time. The Index takes into account local roads, arterials, as well as highways. All data is based on actual GPS based measurements.

    Sygic selects TomTom location content to power GPS navigation app

With the latest version of Sygic GPS Navigation, users will now have access to the highly accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date traffic information on the market via TomTom HD Traffic, ensuring an easy navigation while on-the-go.

    TomTom HD Traffic contains information from multiple data sources, including connected navigation devices, mobile phones, road sensors and real time incident data. TomTom combines this anonymous data aimed at delivering the quickest route through traffic.

    Je moet echt een prut onderhandelaar zijn om bovenstaande gratis weg te gaan geven aan Apple. En wat zou Sygic daarvan denken ? Broodroof zou ik denken..........

    Ja, die mening ben ik ook toegedaan. Dat is niet aan je andere klanten uit te leggen en Sygic had dus NOOIT meer met TT in zee gegaan als dat het geval was geweest.

    Wat ik bedoel te zeggen is dat ik me niet voor kan stellen dat Apple de gebruikers niet gaat laten betalen voor HD Traffic. Dan kan Sygic zijn IOS app wel bij het grof vuil zetten en zouden ze eerder voor een andere leverancier kiezen om zich in ieder geval nog te kunnen onderscheiden.

    De Android Traffic prijs zal waarschijnlijk in de buurt liggen van deze Sygic prijzen.
