   Ik heb het niet heel grondig bestudeerd want ik heb ze zelf gelukkig niet. Maar ik meen dat er gestemd wordt voor een wijziging in de voorwaarden waardoor de bank ze voor 0.01 per 1000 kan callen.

   Correct. Er moet gestemd worden voor afstempeling. Dat kun je afwachten. Je kunt ook niet afwachten en ingaan op op het bod. Ik weet niet wie de andere bondholders zijn. Een eenzijdige afstempelactie is niet te verwachten (waarin regulator dwingend oplegt), maar als de andere bondholder voornamelijk de Ierse staat is, dan lijkt zo'n stemming meer op verkiezingen in Zimbabwe: je kent de uitslag al zo'n beetje.

   Het is de 7.375% met first call 2012.
   Toen ik hem kocht deed hij rond de 23,4 dollar en is in enkele dagen een dollar opgelopen zodat ik hem vrijdag weer heb weggedaan.
   De YTC werd door de stijging snel lager en winst is winst
   
   Ze worden verhandeld op de NYSE en daar kun je de koersen ook gewoon vinden(bij Alex).

Je wordt dus eigenlijk gedwongen voor te stemmen want dan krijg je bij aanname van het voorstel 50.01 per 1000. Als het voorstel aangenomen wordt en je hebt niet gestemd of tegen gestemd worden jouw stukken voor 0.01 gecalled, en krijg je dus slechts de 0.01 per 1000. Dus, ondanks dat iedereen waarschijnlijk tegen het voorstel is, zal er waarschijnlijk toch veel voor gestemd worden.

    A group of investors holding the junior debt of Anglo Irish Bank have vowed to oppose the offer made by the Irish government last week to pay them a fraction of the face value of the bonds.
    
    The government would pay 20 cents on the euro for about 1.6 billion worth of subordinated Anglo debt as it tries to shrink the cost of bailing out the bank, which was set to collapse into insolvency before it was rescued nearly two years ago.
    
    Anglo bondholders with more than 690 million euros worth of the debt in question have hoped to recuperate some of the money they wagered on the bank’s bonds, already trading well below their face value when the latest offer was announced.
    
    They are unhappy with the current terms, which would give them government bonds in return for the Anglo debt, but only if they approve the deal. Bondholders who do not vote for it will get 1 euro cent instead of 20, Anglo said.
    
    “Anglo Irish is attempting to strong-arm noteholders to vote in favor of the Exchange Offer by threatening to eliminate minority dissenting noteholders’ rights to repayment,” Houlihan Lokey, a middle-market investment bank representing the bondholders, said in an e-mailed message. The consortium includes pension fund managers, insurance companies and retail investors, Houlihan said.
    
    “We sincerely wish to meet with Anglo Irish to discuss a fair and consensual resolution,” said Louise Verrill of the law firm Brown Rudnick, counsel to the bondholders.
    
    But they may be trying to squeeze water from a stone. The Irish government’s deficit is running at 32 percent of its gross domestic product this year, largely because of the way it has attempted to bail out its banks, whose lending inflated Ireland’s bubble economy and have now come back to haunt them.
    
    Anglo alone could cost this country of 4.2 million people more than 34.3 billion euros — or more than 8,000 euros per person.
    
    The government is set to vote drastic budget cuts this December, obliged to hack 15 billion euros out of its fiscal plans over the next four years to comply with European Union rules on deficit-to-G.D.P. ratios, which put the cap at 3 percent.
    
    Under those conditions, it is in little mood to appease investors who chose the high-yield of Anglo bonds during the boom, and are now seeking to sidestep the risk that accompanied that return — namely default.
    
    In the days after Lehman collapsed, Ireland announced it would guarantee all bank deposits in the country, moving to reassure markets worried about its financial sector’s exposure to real estate.
    
    By the end of 2008, it had taken over Anglo, after it became clear that the reckless Irish lender’s real estate bets had made it effectively insolvent.
    
    One of Anglo’s larger rivals, Allied Irish Bank, was effectively nationalized last month, while another Bank of Ireland, has done only slightly better.
    
    On Wednesday, Bank of Ireland tested the debt markets by issuing 750 million euros of government-guaranteed debt — the first such issue by an Irish bank in many months. While the bank said the offering was oversubscribed, it paid a heavy price, promising a yield 482 basis points over that of German government debt, according to Bloomberg data.

    Ik heb wel eens geluiden gehoord als zouden de Nederlanders geen VOC mentaliteit meer hebben. "Gebrek aan lef", "zesjescultuur". Maar zie hier: dood of de gladiolen! Een paar ballen hors-categorie, waar je U tegen zegt!
    Een daadwerkelijk credit event triggeren geeft een schokgolf van onrust. Zelfs Ieren moeten voorzichtig zijn met dat soort capriolen. Er moet toch goodwill zijn om dit voor alle spelers profijtelijk te schikken?

    goodwill wel, geld waarschijnlijk niet. Ik ben dol op dit soort kleine stresstestjes. weer een bult euro's winst "voel" je niet meer, deze russische roulette pompt daarentegen weer wat seratonine door de cortex.     Je hebt gelijk: wat schommelingen in de perp prijzen zijn leuke trading mogelijkheden, of een gelegenheid om wat op te pikken. krijg daar geen warm gevoel van - eerlijk gezegd geen gevoel. Maar dit...dit is andere koek. Je wordt financieel aangerand, je eer wordt geschonden, één onverlaat probeert z'n eigen falen op anderen af te wikkelen. Ik kan daar bijzonder slecht tegen. Jazeker, dan proef ik de smaak van adrenaline in de mond!

    Nou vond ik dien Anglo Ieren als dirty rotten scoudrels; blijken ze ook echt te zijn:
    DUBLIN (AP) — Ireland's justice minister says a two-year investigation into hidden loans and losses at Anglo Irish Bank represents the "biggest and most complex" criminal probe in Ireland's history.
    Justice Minister Dermot Ahern says police and corporate ethics officials have interviewed 400 people, and pored over 115,000 emails and letters, in hopes of identifying bank officials responsible for fraudulent accounting at the nationalized bank.

    Ik zat terug in de metro nog eens te peinzen. Het zou een enorme klap geven als de Ieren zowel bij het noodfonds aankloppen, en dan ook nog eens Anglo Irish gecontroleerd (?) laten defaulten omdat er te weinig steun voor "vrijwillige" afstempeling bestaat. Dat zou weer een schitterende handelsmogelijkheid bieden!

    Als ik ierse belastingbetaler was zou ik het toejuichen als de bank met zo min mogelijk geld wordt gered. De ratio van gecontroleerd defaulten is toch terecht?
    Dat het bij de rest van de banken niet gebeurd is betekent nog niet dat het niet meer gebeurd of eigenlijk had moeten gebeuren?
    De perp. van ijslandse banken zijn toch ook niets meer waard?

    De ratio achter gecontroleerd defaulten is op zich terecht. Paar problemen die ik met de huidige situatie heb:
    - de bank gaat niet daadwerkelijk falliet, maar een soort chapter 11 doorstart zie ik ook niet.
    - gecontroleerd de bank opheffen is mij best, maar het "gecontroleerde" betwijfel ik. Politici (en Anglo is de facto staatsbank) zijn hier notoir slecht in, en communiceren beroerd.
    - Anglo Irish is in Europees opzicht geen systeembank.
    Maar goed, de situatie is zoals hij is, onze overpeinzingen veranderen niets. Wij kunnen alleen met de voeten stemmen. En Rex natuurlijk via de advocaat!
