   So we see no great competition. The margins are good. I told you that we have a profit sharing agreement with Novartis. And
   this agreement is there because of the following. We sell to the organization Pan-American, PAHO, and UNICEF. Novartis has
   the right to sell Quinvaxem in other parts of the world. From that, we get a profit share.
   
   Currently, we have only been working on sales to UNICEF and Pan-American Health and not on individual sales to individual
   countries. So the profit sharing from Novartis hasn't yielded very much as yet. But it's also because the amounts so far has been

   We have a profit sharing agreement with Novartis and this does not necessarily mean that it's 50-50. The other thing is that
   Novartis has not yet started selling in individual countries. One of the reasons, as you can imagine is that if Crucell is able to
   generate these sales with two organizations, then the cost of sales is minimal. We do the negotiations with two people, where
   the cost of sales in these countries is considerably higher. We also have information about the Novartis sale and will get the
   same profit sharing agreement. The Quinvaxem margins are good. We're very satisfied with those.
   When we sell Novartis depends in part on the amount that we can supply to UNICEF and what the balance sheet will look like.
   Their first approval from individual countries has already been received, so this -- there's nothing to withhold Novartis from starting.

   There are some other countries where, based on our experience, that might be a tremendous interest to see whether they could purchase our products. In our relationship with Novartis, we have a lot of discussions about that, because we're very happy

   Well, at this point, the lion's share of the market is in UNICEF and the [Pau] territories. And I think that will remain the case in

   AMSTERDAM, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Dutch biotech firm Crucell NV (CRCL.AS)CRCL.O will likely look to add a sixth antigen to its portfolio of childhood vaccines as part of expected product add-ons after a stake sale to Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N), Crucell said on Tuesday.
   
   Crucell's Quinvaxem vaccine, a mix of vaccines against five childhood diseases, has driven its sales growth in recent years, but adding a sixth vaccine could be necessary to maintain Crucell's market position, which is coming under pressure.
   
   "We are working on an hexavalent vaccine but for competitive reasons we are not mentioning what the sixth antigen will be," Crucell spokeswoman Oya Yavuz said.
   
   Despite Crucell's reluctance to reveal what antigen it will acquire, the World Health Organisation said polio is likely to be added in future to the pentavalent paediatric vaccines bought by UNICEF, forming an hexavalent vaccine. An hexavalent vaccine is already used in industrialised countries.
   
   This means companies that currently supply pentavalent vaccines to UNICEF might in future wish to add inactivated (injectible) polio vaccine in their combination and then apply for WHO prequalification to continue supplying UNICEF with their paediatric vaccines.
   
   UNICEF already buys oral polio vaccines, but Crucell's rivals have access to injectible polio vaccines
   
   India's Panacea Biotec (PNCA.BO) has access to injectible polio vaccines via its collaboration with the Netherlands Vaccine Institute (NVI), while peer Indian firm Shantha Biotechnics has access via Sanofi-Aventis (SASY.PA), which took control of the firm last year
   
   Sales of Crucell's Quinvaxem vaccine -- which consists of diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and influenza vaccines -- have already come under pressure by the emergence of Panacea Biotec and Shantha Biotechnics
   
   Rabo Securities analyst Fabian Smeets said the long-term value in Crucell acquiring access to a polio vaccine would not be in the vaccine itself but in adding it to Quinvaxem.
   
   And Crucell has cash to fund an entry into polio following a 300 million euro equity stake sale in September Johnson & Johnson.
   
   Crucell is already developing vaccines for Yellow Fever, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Ebola and Marburg and HIV, alongside antibody drugs to treat Rabies and Hepatitis C, and has said the Johnson & Johnson cash will boost its pipeline development and provide it cash to make acquisitions.
   
   The NVI said Crucell could enter into a polio collaboration with the government-based institute, which supplies bulk inactivated polio vaccines to several companies.

   1.Crucell heeft (al eerder) aangegeven aan hexavalent te werken.
   2. Hexavalent = zeer waarschijnlijk + injectable polio.
   3. Er zijn vier polio vaccin producenten: NVI, SSI, Sanofi en GSK.
   
   Imo werkt Crucell NU al samen met 1 van deze 4 om polio-vaccin op een stabiele wijze aan Quinvaxem toe te voegen.
   
   Dat zou NVI kunnen zijn, maar zou ook zo maar pentavalent-concurrent GSK of Sanofi kunnen zijn. Kan allemaal in de vaccin wereld.

   Hexavalent moet dan eerst in Korea worden goedgekeurd en vervolgens kan de WHO de nieuwe plant in Korea keuren. Hoe snel kan dat. En wat wordt de prijs/marge van dat nieuwe vaccin.
   
   Ik denk dat eea in 2012 gaat spelen als de tenders voor 2013-2015 worden gehouden. Dus approval in korea en who uiterlijk begin 2012 (dus nog dikke twee jaar)

    Lijkt me ook een kwestie van prijs. Zie de hele discussie rond Quinvaxem van een jaar of 3 geleden over enting-campagnes, waist, opslag, etc.

    QV gaat over naar nieuwe fabriek waarbij hogere capaciteit en 7 jaar taxe-holliday (alsook efficenter produceren?) maw omzet en marge staan niet onder druk. Funding GAVI is tot/met 2012 intakt, nadien neemt funding (en prijs voor pentavalent?) af ten voordele van het pneumococcen vaccine (Wyeth ?). Er is ook nog Novartis die QV kan wegzetten in niet-GAVI landen. Concurrentie is ook maar pas in volle ontwikkeling en moet nog bewijzen dat ze kunnen leveren wat hen gevraagd wordt.

    Ivm opslag had Crucell voor QV strengere temperatuurseisen dan de Indische concurrenten. Deze eisen zijn versoepeld en bijgesteld (na uitgebreid onderzoek uiteraard) zodat bij nieuwe leveringen deze discussie van de baan is gevaagd (zie mijn posts elders of Google even).

    Met deze tax holliday kan Crucell zijn vaccins tegen de beste prijs aanbieden. Wie weet wel beter dan de mededingers voor de contracten.
    Ik denk dat Wilb gelijk krijgt en dat we binnen kort een ATH kunnen verwachten.

    Op de unicef site staat weer een bijgewerkt overzicht van de leveringen Quinvaxem.
    De leveringen in Q4 bedragen 25 miljoen stuks, hetgeen toch al snel tot 60 miljoen euro omzet zou moeten leiden. De ervaring leert dat de maand van shipment van unicef niet altijd gelijk is aan de maand van omzet, maar tot nu toe is dit een mooie indicator gebleken. Kortom 2009 Q4 is een absolute topmaand voor Quinvaxem.
    
    Verder blijkt dat uit het 2009 nog een 22-23 miljoen stuks is uitgesteld tot diverse kwartalen in 2010, of moet nog bevestigd worden. Dus: alleen uit het oude contract zit er nog een kleine 60 miljoen euro in de pijplijn

    Om jullie wat inzicht te geven in de samenhang tussen de unicef-gegevens en de gerapporteerde omzet de volgende bijlage.
    Het beeld wordt wat vertroebeld door een drietal factoren.
    - moment van leveren (unicef) is anders dan moment van factureren.
    - de prijs van de leveringen en de dollarkoers op dat moment kan nog varieren tov mijn aangenomen europrijs.
    - de omzet van Crucell is inclusief moruviraten en hepavax en moet dus in feite ook wat hoger liggen.
    
    Alles overwegende geeft het aantal leveringen een mooie indicatie, maar geen absolute zekerheid omtrent de precieze hoogte van de omzet.
    
    Mijn inschatting is toch een omzet van ruim 60 miljoen voor Q4 2009.

    Bedankt voor je bijgewerkte overzicht. We komen alleen in een fase waarin de hoeveelheden Crucell's Quinvaxem met Panacea's pentavalent worden gecombineerd. Op basis van de eerste initiële order nog niet significant, maar voor de vergeven 2010-2012 tenders zal het leeuwendeel Panacea/ Shanta worden.
    
    Voor 2009 natuurlijk wel een indicator, voor 2010 en daarna kunnen je overzichten "mogelijk" worden misbruikt.
    In ieder geval mijn dank voor de voorgaande periodenoverzichten.

    Ik realiseer me dat de overzichten vanaf 2010 uitgebreid gaan worden door de leveringen van shanta en panacea. Hiermee zal het niet gemakkelijker worden.
    
    De omschrijvingen van de produkten hebben echter een volgnummer: Bijv.
    DTP-HepB-Hib 1 of
    DTP-HepB+Hib 2
    
    hierbij is de eerste het vaccin van Crucell en de tweede het oudere vaccin van GSK (vandaar ook het +teken.
    
    Ik hoop echter in 2010 aan de nummering te kunnen zien wie de contractpartij/leverancier is.
    We zullen wel zien.
